QUANTUM LUNCH
There is nothing stable in this table
And yet
the ever so quickly spinning
nothingness
that is me
is happy this particle-wave
filled morning
to rest on it with non-existent elbows
and gaze and gaze
at the improbable you
QUANTUM LUNCH

THE FARM, THE RANCH
AND THE NEED FOR GOD
Who pray to when the rains donβt come
who forget to thank when they do
Who curse when the John Deere breaks
and the cow jumps over the moon
(by the moon of course I mean
the fence to the alfalfa field)
Who in the long nights pondering
under stars too cold to be suns
a word big enough for big
DARK SKIES 17
He
turns off the TV
and goes outside to count
bullet holes in the sky
Rising moon
is a lime in a Corona
New-cut hay is youth
and him lying on his back
traveling the milk paved path
He lays back on the hay
IN ART AS IN LIFE
There are girls with tattoos
that go to places you cannot see
for clothes, or they without mirrors
There is art stolen by Nazis
that has never been recovered
There are more
openings than you can attend
more miles
in the Louvre, Prada and Hermitage
Here on the fridge, home from grade 2
notice the use of color and light
EXTRANET AT OAK AND ELM
The man on the phone
notices the frail old lady
waiting timid at the corner
Boy Scout still at heart
holds her elbow gentle
as they cross the busy street
Half turns and presses Send
to the threat to bomb the temple
OR ~
He pauses, smiles, and taps Delete
You choose the ending
MORNING GRATITUDES
After my morning gratitudes
look out the window
to great flakes
softling to the ground
Always room for one more
MORE GLORY TO YOU
There is something
about a rotting church
in a by-passed prairie town
Pride become humility
spirit shining through the bones
WHAT ADAM AND EVE ALMOST LEARNED
Distracted by the first sweet taste of naked
they never got to the core
PERSPECTIVE
The ibis of OZ
has a very funny schnoz
Yet other ibises it seems
see long crooked noses in their dreams
HERMIT ENVY
The thing about being alone
is finding someone to lie to
about how good it feels
