This poem causes me to do some thinking of my own.
There are tree mates, who we share our genetics and childhood memories with
People we love to meet with, to recall our shared experiences, and report the new
People with a place in our hearts that years and distance can’t erase.
There are life mates. those we choose to share life’s journey with
People we dream with as we build our homes and families and create new memories
People who share our pride in children growing, and grandchildren arriving
There are play mates who share our social lives.
“How are you?” The answer barely heard
Then there are soul mates who share our hearts and dreams, maybe from the above, but often not.
