Love is not being grabbed by the groin

Love is not having to hate
everyone that your true love hates
and will withhold it from you if you don’t

Love is what feels
good to you when it happens to you

They used to have mood rings for that
and in case you forget what orange meant

Unsettled, Nervous, Mixed,
Confused, Upset, Challenged, Indignant

But you probably knew before the ring told you

Sometimes when you go through hell
like Austin's relentless heat this year
it is only when the pommeling is past
that you finally allow yourself to cry

It is out-pouring a blessing today
and relief through our roof is clear

A man is coming by the afternoon
to comfort her and dry each tear
