By yon courthouse steps
blindfolded Justice holds her scales

With a small smile today
that those sent on treason tasks
will not in dungeons dankness rot
while he who sent them sits a throne

Though just as happy
fair being fair
if he had joined them there

that almost every day
the labouring children can look out
and see the men at play

by the hand or knee of another
there is no fair compare

Never fearing when I leave my home
that I might be the next to die
there is no fair compare

Yet feel obliged, though not with right
to lay a flower on your lone mass grave
