Getting Ready for the 4th

Buy some fireworks - online

Take out the little
shovel and bucket for the sand
put them back again

Unfold the big beach towels
fold them up again

Sort the bottles of suntan oil
in descending order of SPF
put them back in plastic wrap

Return the fireworks
in exchange for some fake tan

Celebrate the country that was
and might be again

We don’t feel people’s pain
with the math side of our brain

Even those shaped like a pie
bring neither saliva to mouth
nor tear to eye

Carry today if you can
a picture in your mind or hand
